It is cold outside (don't laugh northerners), so come on in and see what is awaiting you. Bring your Christmas lists and enjoy picking out some interesting stuff for your friends.
11/16/2008
Now that we're into November, we're beginning to think about Christmas. We have miscellaneous Christmas decorations for sale including old ornaments, nativity sets, Byer's Carolers and more. Also the Christmas show has started at the Rudy Theater, so come shop a little and see the show.
10/25/2008
We're 2/3 through the antique show and sales have been brisk, especially when considering the economy. In fact sales have been better than they were during the show one year ago when the stock market was near it's all time high. Go figure. We sold lots of perfume bottles and miscellaneous dishes. Also we had a great icebox which sold. But don't worry, there's still lots left. Come on down.
10/23/2008
The time is here. The East Coast Antique Show begins tomorrow. Hope to see you there.
10/21/2008
It is now only two days until the East Coast Antique Show begins in Selma.
10/18/2008
Thanks to all of the customers who came by the store today. You made the day a success. It is always interesting to see what you decide to take home with you. Don't forget, next weekend is the East Coast Antique Show at Selma which will be on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We won't set up on the street, but the store will be open to serve everyone who comes in. We hope to see you then.
10/7/2008
As of this week, Keepsake Corner will be closed on Mondays except for possibly holiday Mondays. If you have a question as to whether we will be open on a holiday Monday, just call the store during business hours or email us at info@keepsake-corner.com.

Thanks to all of the customers who came by the store today. Also the Fire Chief came by and inspected our progress thus far in conforming to the life safety requirements and found the things we had accomplished to be satisfactory. We still have a few things left to do before he gives us a complete release.
10/3/2008
It's upon us. Railroad Days at Selma. Come on down tomorrow.
10/1/2008
Please join us in saying good-bye to Ann as she moves to another store. Ann has been with us for almost two years and we wish her luck in her new endeavor. In spite of financial turmoil in the US, today was a rip-roaring day at Keepsake Corner. The big seller of the day was several ice cream molds. Thanks so much to the person who purchased them. Don't forget to visit Selma for Railroad Day this Saturday. We hope to see you then.
9/16/2008
October will be a busy month in Selma, and an excellent time to shop. The first Saturday of October (10/4/08) is Railroad Day where Selma commemorates the importance of the railroad now and in the past. Then the last weekend of the month is the East Coast Antique Show on the streets and in the stores of Uptown Selma. The dates for the show are 10/24 to 10/26. This is an excellent time to find great antiques and collectibles. I hope to see you there. Remember, if you can't call or come by, email us at info@keepsake-corner.com.

We're back from our second vacation in two months and unfortunately the last one for a while. The NC Outer Banks were great last week. While we were away, Keepsake Corner was visited by the Selma Fire Chief for an unannounced inspection. We appreciate the comments from the Fire Chief and will be correcting the few items he brought to our attention. The store will be an even better and safer place to shop. In fact, the entire town will benefit as fire inspections are performed on all commercial buildings.

We are glad that Hanna is now history and as she passed today, the sun came out and so did the customers. Hanna brought some much needed rain to the area and not much wind, "The Perfect Storm". If you're traveling through the area, or live here, there is no better time than now to stop in and visit us at Keepsake Corner.

Today we would like to say "good-bye" to Adele. It has been a pleasure to have her associated with Keepsake Corner. She has decided to discontinue her involvement with the store which is unfortunate because of her great personality and wonderful way with customers. We have been privileged to have her as a part of the store these past couple of years and wish her the best of luck.

What we like about working in the store is all the interesting people we meet. Today we were fortunate that author, actor, and reader of books on tape Jeffrey Breslauer from Florida stopped by. His latest work is a children's book called "Abner the Clown" which is available through amazon.com. The illustrations by Linda Campbell are excellent. Jeffrey is a very interesting person and we enjoyed meeting him very much.

We're heading into the busy Labor Day weekend when there will be many travelers and many shoppers. We are always grateful for customer feedback and the following quote is from one of the dealers who operated the store recently. 'One couple lingered a while and visited. They shared how they travel and shop, and when they opened the door to your store, they just "got that feeling" an "at home" "friendly" feeling.' That is what we strive for, so let us know how we can make you feel more at home when you come by.

Hey, we're back!!!!! I can't believe it has been over a month since I updated the website. We just spent a wonderful three weeks vacationing in Europe, visiting the countries of Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic and briefly England. Europe is filled with beauty and I hope to eventually get to see other parts of it as well. We did some shopping, and came away with the understanding that we have GREAT prices in our store. There were no bargains to be had in Europe, either at antique stores, other retail stores, or flea markets. Part of the problem is the reduced value of the dollar compared to their currency, but even without that, their prices would seem high, I think. We owe many, many, many thanks to those who kept the store open every single day during our absence. It is a great comfort to know we can be gone that long and the store operates just as well as it does with us here in the states. We know it operated well, because the sales prove it. Thanks also, to all of the customers who came by during that time. Now that we're back, we have a lot of rearranging to do and a considerable amount of merchandise to add to the already well-stocked inventory. So please come by again, and see what's new!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another interesting day. We were visited by the Red Hat Ladies who always enjoy shopping and even making some purchases. There was also a church group for High Point who were delightful customers. Traffic was high until this afternoon when rain bands ahead of Tropical Storm Christobal came by and drenched the town. Thanks to all cutomers who came by and I hope you're enjoying your purchases.

I continue to be amazed and pleased by our customers. Wednesday was another of those days. So many of our regular customers came in and then with the travelers and vacationers, we had a very good day. We have always prided ourselves in our customer service and I was made aware of it again late Wednesday afternoon. A traveling couple came in…..probably around 5:15. I had had a very busy day and of course wasn’t nearly ready to leave so when she asked what time we closed I told her “when the last customer leaves”. I asked if she was looking for anything in particular and she said “daffodil things”. She and I hunted and hunted AND HUNTED and FINALLY found a miniature cup and saucer which her husband paid for separately….then he left the store. She continued to look……and she kept finding items that she wanted……finally when she was checking out at 6:20 she mentioned how nice and helpful I had been and said they had been in two other stores before they came to ours………at one store the lady started cutting out the lights…….at the other store the two gentlemen NEVER EVER said a word to them……never looked at them…..never acknowledged that they had even walked into the store. After being there for a short while her husband told her “let’s go – they are not interested in selling us anything”. So needless to say she was appreciative of the help she received at KC and said they would be traveling back and forth down I-95 since her mother-in-law is ill and they will be going to see her quite a bit. I know she will stop in again.

July continues to be an incredibly busy month at Keepsake Corner and in Selma in general. Hundreds of items have been sold, but there remain many many more excellent finds and bargains.
7/4/2008
Yes, we are open today so come on in!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are happy to serve you on this wonderful Independence Day. If you don't come by, we hope you have a great and enjoyable holiday anyhow. We are greatful to God and all who have worked to earn and keep the freedoms we enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!
7/2/2008
I told you. The end of June and beginning of July have been great. Merchandise continues to leave the store in the hands and bags of happy customers. Decoratives, primitives and jewelry are still very strong. Amy ran the store today and had local customers enjoying some time off from work as well as travelers going north to south and south to north.
6/27/2008
Wow!!!!!!!!! Today was a busy day. We are now entering what has proven for the last several years to be the busiest time of the year in Selma. The store is well stocked and customers are buying. We had a good mixture of local and I-95 traffic. Merchandise that moved well today were decorative dishes, jewelry, art, hat pins, half off items, furniture, and you name it. Don't worry, there's plenty left for tomorrow's customers.
6/20/2008
Thanks to Pat and James for starting a window rearrangement. Pat has some furniture, quilts and country items that will display nicely and with her knack for decorating the window should be beautiful. Faye will also be rearranging her space, so come in and see her to find bargains that were previously hidden.
6/17/2008
We're off to a new week and slightly cooler temperatures. Yesterday we called an exterminator because it was reported that there were hornets making a nest around the front door. It turns out it was only dirt dobbers, which are totally harmless, but they were exterminated since even a dirt dobber could cause a customer discomfort if they are not aware of their harmlessness. We're keeping our eyes open to make sure our store entrance is totally safe for our customers and ourselves. Linda was at the store today and it was another robust Tuesday for sales, at least compared to many Tuesdays. We are very appreciative of every customer and potential customer who enters the store.
6/12/2008
The duet sisters, Nat and Pat, worked the store today and did a great job greeting customers. Today was very smoky in the Selma area due to fires several counties to the east. The weather person assures us that the winds will shift more westerly tomorrow and blow this smoke back to the east. So don't let the smoke keep you from coming to Selma tomorrow. Amy and Grant will be in the store and we're looking forward to a great day.
6/11/2008
Thankfully the weather was a little cooler today and the temperature didn't climb above the mid to high 90's. Faye worked the store since she and Amy switched days this week. That means Amy will work Friday. Thanks, Faye for switching.

Today we accomplished a great milestone. Our website was completed and launched by our son-in-law Thomas Wilk of Longwood, Florida who will continue serving as our webmaster. This site is intended to introduce you to our store, Keepsake Corner, the wonderful merchandise we carry and the outstanding dealers who rent spaces and work several days per week. Please feel free to call about any items that appeal to you. You can also email us at info@keepsake-corner.com. Better yet, come visit us at the store and see for yourself.
